Natural Energy is the name of a track by Jay Kay (before even the days of When You Gonna Learn on the Acid Jazz label) which was never released but understood to have been pressed a very limited number of times on the 'World Dance Records' record label. Well, the track has recently been played on the Street Sounds show - a show broadcast on Solar Radio in the UK. To listen to the track head over to the Street Sounds website, click on the Street Sounds Show banner and listen to part 1 of the show from 14.10.11 at approximately 24 minutes 10 seconds in (direct MP3 link). Along with Rock Dust Light Star came the return of a brass section with the band. One of the members of this section, trumpeter Malcolm Strachan has answered a few questions (asked by fans) about how he got involved with Jamiroquai and what its like working with Jay and being on tour. After a gap of around a month during August the band are back on the road for a few gigs. After performing in Istanbul, Turkey on Monday night (which confused me as the wrong date was originally announced) the band now head to Italy for the F1 Rocks event on Friday. A gig in Brazil at the end of the month and then Germany, France and Belgium later in November. Here's hoping that the injury problems that Jay's had are behind him and that the forthcoming gigs all go ahead as planned. Finally, here's the set list from Monday's concert in Istanbul as sent to me by a fan...

Jamiroquai have offered four tickets to the November 22 concert in Paris together with the chance to meet Jay after the concert back-stage. The auction is currently running at the charitybuzz website and ends on 21 September. Jamiroquai have made the following statement following the last minute cancellation of the concert in France on Tuesday evening...
Jay Kay would like to apologise to disappointed fans for the cancellation of last night's show in France. Jay's on-going groin injury has been diagnosed as a hernia which will be need to be operated on later in the summer. Following an MRI scan last week specialists had advised rest but Jay has insisted he wants to try to finish the current run of dates. Doctors have said that provided he manages the pain sufficiently he can continue performing if he feels able. During the course of the past two days the pain flared up again and yesterday he reluctantly decided he did not feel he well enough to perform last night. After two days rest he is hopeful he will be able to complete the remaining 4 shows of the current run, including Toulon tomorrow night. Jay said "I would like to thank fans for their understanding, this is a very frustrating injury and some days the pain is just too extreme to perform to a standard I believe is acceptable. I promise I will do my best to come back out again soon when I'm fully fit and am optimistic I'll be able to pull off the remaining shows of the run." |
