FunkinJamiroquai - The Funkin Site
The website for the Sudoeste Festival in Portugal has listed Jamiroquai as performing on 6th August for some time but has not been listed on the official listings by Jamiroquai.com. This was an oversight and the gig is now confirmed. After last nights concert in Belgium the band now have a few days back home before heading to Portugal for this final gig in the current summer festival tour. A full pro-shot video from the Paleo Festival concert held last Friday in Switzerland can be watched online at the DailyMotion.com website. Over recent days and weeks Jamiroquai have been performing gigs around Europe (and have a few more to go). For those who have been to any of the recent concerts, why not share with other fans the good (and perhaps the bad) experiences - the music, the set list, the lighting, even the weather... by posting a comment on this news item. On Friday night Jamiroquai performed at the Main Square Festival in Arras, France. They performed the following tracks:
Feel free to post your thoughts about the gig, links to audio/video/photos as comments on this news item. Jamiroquai have posted a short video on their YouTube channel showing some footage of the band performing new track Rock Dust Light Star at Debut London on the 24th June. Towards the end of the video there is a little footage of Jay preparing and walking out on stage at the Hard Rock Calling concert that was held two days later in London's Hyde Park. I have just uploaded a selection of photos from Saturdays concert in Hyde Park, London to the official Jamiroquai flickr.com site (they'll be posted to the Jamiroquai facebook account shortly). As I've said to some of you in the past I think its really beneficial to get a 'fan' behind the lens at some of these gigs so that we can get some photos of some of the other bandmembers and not just Jay. Official photo agencies and the press will only take photos of Jay, as that's what people want to see but I believe (and know) that many of you want to see some of the other bandmembers (however, I wish Sola and Derrick could move nearer the front of the stage next time!) It's a real honour to take photos at some of these gigs and its amazing to see so many familiar faces on the front row of these gigs time and time again. Thanks for being so nice and friendly to me - especially when I stand in your way taking photos for the first three songs! I hope you like them... I sure do. On Saturday night Jamiroquai performed a storming set to warm-up a huge crowd at the Hard Rock Calling Festival at Hyde Park in central London. Performing for approximately one hour in advance of the main act, Stevie Wonder, the band played the following tracks:
At the start of the set Jay said that he didn't yet have a picture for the new album cover and wanted everyone in the crowd to be in it. He then turned round with his back to the crowd - posed for a cameraman and had the whole of Hyde Park behind him in the background screaming and cheering! The weather was simply beautiful all day - hot and sunny - and the huge crowd were loving it. I was there armed with my camera so expect to see some photos at Jamiroquai.com in the coming days - but here's a little shot as a taster! As he left the stage to make room for Stevie Wonder he said that the new album would be out in October... 9pm on Thursday 24th June saw Jamiroquai back on stage, playing a warm-up gig at Debut London. The band were on full form and joined by a three man brass/horn section. The set list was as follows:
As you can see there was a new song on the list, 'Rock Dust Light Star' - I'm sure camera phone recordings of this will be on YouTube very soon! The band are next on stage on Saturday 26th at Hyde Park in London where they support Stevie Wonder at the Hard Rock Calling festival. UPDATE: Some photos that I took for Jamiroquai.com can be found at flickr.com. Jamiroquai head back on the road this week starting with a 'warm up' gig in central London followed by supporting Stevie Wonder on Saturday night. Rob Harris recently posted on Facebook:
It's likely that Saturday's setlist will be fairly mainstream to please the masses but if you were in charge of the setlist, what would you want to hear at this coming gigs? Feel free to post a comment with your thoughts here at funkin.com. Jamiroquai have been used to promote a few different products in Japan over the years (Sony Minidisc for example) and here's a new one. Virtual Insanity with some slightly different lyrics is being used to promote Cup Noodles (the same as 'Pot Noodles' in some other countries such as the UK). The commercial can be watched at the Cup Noodle website or on YouTube. |
